Testimonial : I went swing dancing for kicks one night many summers ago. Little did I know what wonderful things would come my way from that choice; a multitude of friends, many happy evenings after a hard day at work, getting in much better shape and the best of all, meeting and marrying my sweet husband. Swing dancing will change your life!! - Wendy from Anaheim
Australian Lindy Hop Tour
With Anthony and Sarah
Saturday, May 12th 2007
Anthony and Sarah are international lindy hoppers from Australia. You will love their style, energy, and creativity. Feeling stagnant? Take this one time, rare workshop.
For a recipe on Anthony’s dance style, take three large portions of wild & crazy; add a dash of improvisation and ingenuity, a liberal dose of slapstick comedy and a healthy pinch of raw energy. Mix furiously and grill over the hot tunes of Gene Krupa and Count Basie. Turn often and baste with a light, soulful touch of Ernestine Anderson. It all adds to a tasty meal of style and antics, with plenty of aerial action on the side!
Lindy Hop is a true passion of Sarah’s and she has worked hard to learn about the history of the dance and incorporate this into her dancing and teaching. You can see this in the way that she dances – her energy and love of the dance has made her a favourite of leads in Melbourne and the world over. She can groove to the slower swing tracks and can simply fly to those super fast tracks.

$40 for for the day. Members get $5 off pre-sale only.
Space will be limited by the room size so you should sign up online or come 15 min early in person.

1pm
Moves Done Down Under
Want to add a little Aussie flavour to your Lindy Hop moves portfolio? Sarah and Anthony have picked a few of their fair-dinkum favourites to give you some fun new moves for the social floor. Nothing high-flying or death-defying here, these moves will be challenging, socially leadable and rely on strong technique.

2pm
Charleston Trickery
Three cheers for Charleston! The great thing about Charleston is that once you're comfortable with the basic rhythms and footwork, it's very easy to play around and combine different Charleston chunks. In this class, Anthony and Sarah will introduce the Irish Charleston magician Plenty O'Trickery and guide you through a number of different tricks and combinations.

3pm
Lunch and Practice

4pm
Hot Footwork and Styling
Like California, Australia can get pretty hot. You don't want to get burned standing still on hot sand, plus the crocodiles might get you... SNAP!!! To combat a hot floor, you need some quick and flighty footwork plus some cool styling. Luckily, just in time for Summer, Sarah and Anthony have a variety of footwork and styling variations to keep you Lindy Hoppin'.

5pm
Jammin' Jam Routine
Despite the title, this class is not about preserving berries to use as a condiment on toast. Instead, this is a class about structuring a number of specific moves into a sequenced format, interlaced with Lindy Hop fundamentals and performed in a choreographed fashion to a selected jazz arrangement. Sounds hot huh? Afterwards we can make jam...
